Heno to challenge Soto for WBO flyweight title

DAVAO CITY -- Orient and Pacific Boxing Federation light flyweight champion Edward "El Heneral Fighting Heno" Heno of Paranaque City will challenge Elwin "La Pulga" Soto of Mexico for the World Boxing Organization world light flyweight title on Oct. 24 at the Fantasy Springs Casino in Indio, California, USA.

The 27-year-old Heno retained his OPBF title for the third time by beating Koji Itagaki of Japan via a unanimous decision last Feb. 11 in Japan.

Heno remains undefeated -14 wins with five knockouts and five draws.

Soto, on the other hand, has a total of 15 wins and 11 knockouts with one loss.

The 22-year-old Soto earlier knocked out defending champion Angel Acosta of Puerto Rico to win the WBO world light flyweight title on July 21 in California.

The promoter is Oscar De La Hoya of Golden Boy Promotions. (PNA)
