December 7, 2019 – The ribbon event of rythmic gymnastics sees a rare feat as two Malaysian bets share the gold medal in the Rizal Memorial Coliseum.
Koi Sie Yan and Izzah Amzan were both conferred the honors as both gymnasts garnered 15.2 points in their respective performances.
It was Koi who has a better execution, getting a 7.1-point in the said column. The 20-year old Malaysian also boasted a 1.6-point score for technicality, compared to Amzan’s 1.2.
Amzan, however, showed a more difficult performance, getting 8.3 points compared to Koi’s 8.1. It was Amzan’s 4.4-point body movement score that anchor the difficulty of her showcase.
No silver medal was awarded, as Nat Kulsanawong of Thailand enjoyed a 14.05-point performance, good for a bronze medal.
