Gilas Men pips Alab in closed-door battle

MANILA — Gilas Pilipinas Men prevailed over Alab Pilipinas, 98-95, in a closed-door tuneup game at the Meralco Gym in Pasig City on Monday night.

Gilas Men held Alab to only 16 points in the second quarter before keeping its opponent at bay down the stretch.

Junemar Fajardo made 21 points, while RR Pogoy added 15 for Gilas Men, who will face Alab again next Monday.

Chris Standhardinger, Japeth Aguilar, Chris Ross, Matt Wright, LA Tenorio, Stanley Pringle, Marcio Lassiter, Vic Manuel, Greg Slaughter, Arth dela Cruz, and Scottie Thompson also played for Gilas Men.

Kiefer Ravena, who will replace the injured Jayson Castro, was also in attendance.

The game was part of Gilas Men’s training for the Southeast Asian Games.

Louie Vigil made 18 markers, while Brandon Rosser chipped in 17 for Alab, which is using the match to prepare for the ASEAN Basketball League. (PNA)
