Andales battles Lino for vacant PH minimumweight title

DAVAO CITY – Erstwhile undefeated orthodox ArAr “Asero” Andales tries to regain his winning ways as he battles Joel Lino of Davao City for the vacant Philippine minimumweight title on Nov. 15 in Mamburao, Mindoro Occidental.

Andales found his winning streak halted to 10 after losing his last fight against undefeated World Boxing Association (WBA) minimumweight champion Thammanoon Niyomtrong (19-0) of Thailand in Nakhon Sawan last Aug. 2.

It was the first fight of the 20-year old boxer from Bacoor, Cavite outside the Philippines.

On the other hand, Lino dropped all his last three assignments, including two against Japanese Masataka Taniguchi (10-2) in Bangkok on Nov. 13, 2018; and Ginjiro Shigeoka (2-0), also of Japan, in Koshi on April 14, 2019.

The 24-year-old Lino absorbed a unanimous decision defeat in his last fight against Toto Landero (14-4-2) of Muntinlupa City last Sept. 7 in Taguig.

The Andales-Lino fight is promoted by Gerry Balmes. (PNA)
