Gymnastics: Philippines, Malaysia, Thailand lead rhythmic medal haul

December 7, 2019 – The Philippines, Malaysia, and Thailand lead the medal haul in the Rhythmic Gymnastics at the Rizal Memorial Coliseum on Saturday.

Reggie Danielle dela Pisa of the Philippines delivered the first gold for the day in the hoop category.

Dela Pisa garnered a total of 17.75 points, anchored by her 7.4 rating on the usage of the hoop.

Izzah Amzan of Malaysia ended up with the silver as she tallied 16.5 points, bannered by her clean performance.

Amzan’s compatriot Amy Dict Weg Kwan settled with the bronze as she registered 15.9 points in her performance.

It was Amzan who took the gold medal in the ball event, with the Malaysian getting 17.8 points, 10.4 of it from the difficulty of her showcase.

Thailand’s Nat Kulsanawong got the silver with 16.3 points. Dela Pisa grabbed another medal, this time a bronze, with 15.6 points.

The Filipino got another bronze in hand at the clubs category, getting 16.1 points on her performance.

It was Benjaporn Limpanich who took the gold for Thailand, as she registered 17.15 points in total.

Malaysian Koi Sie Yan meanwhile took the silver with 16.9 points, with 7.4 points from her clean execution.

Malaysia’s gymnastic sextet was proclaimed the best in the RGG 5 Balls competition after defeating Thailand and the Philippines.

The team of Chan Mei Thung, Eu Jia Xin, Koh Jei Yi, Lee Xin Yao, Lim Chyi Ean, and Shak Yuki gathered 22.650 points to grab the gold medal.

It was Thailand, however, who took the gold medal in the RGG 3 balls + 2 pairs of clubs competition.

Thailand’s six-woman group, composed of Manatsana Chaiteerapattaparapong, Pornnutcha Jedthumrong, Pornchanit Junthabud, Chutikan Piwpong, Panjarat Prawatyotin, and Puntita Thongsong, garnered 18.9 points.

Malaysia grabbed silver, while the Philippines took the bronze medal.
